Artist: Claude 1er Varin

Pewter flour jar with an ovoid shape and a molded pedestal and a flat lid with a rectangular grip. It has two flat side handles. Hallmarked on the ears and the grip:
1°- Hallmark of Claude 1st VARIN, received as master in 1708: crowned hammer / 1708 / CV
2°- Control hallmark with the city's coat of arms: spread eagle with columns / COMMVN.
3°- Founder's countermark on the interior background showing the city's coat of arms: eagle spread over the columns.

BESANCON, First half of the 18th century


In very good condition, a repair is however reported on the lid and highlighted on one of the photos
The object is presented in natural patina; it can, at the buyer's request, be restored to its original shine by mechanical or manual cleaning.
