Green glazed ceramic lamp base with fish decoration dating from the 1940s/1950s. 37 cm high. 2 small enamel losses at the neck due to firing. A tiny enamel loss on the edge of the fish's eye under the label (see photo). A wire exit hole has been provided by the artist in case of mounting as a lamp.
Born in 1897, Louis Giraud was a painter and ceramist in Vallauris, where he ran an art pottery producing Art Deco vases and utilitarian ceramics. He collaborated with Pyot Thiry, René Maurel, Alexandre Kostanda, and others. When he died in 1985, he left behind a rich and varied body of work.
