Artist: Geneviève Peyrade
Oil on canvas 55 cm x 38 cm sold with its frame 66 cm x 50 cm signed and titled lower right Geneviève Peyrade La communion du pensionnat. Sold with invoice-certificate. Very good condition. This painting was exhibited in the 70s in a major exhibition at Vandoeuvre les Nancy. The magazine Lorraine which had written an article on Lorraine naive art in December 78 reproduced the painting that I am offering you in this issue. (see photo) Genevieve Peyrade was born in Luneville in 1926, spotted by Anatole Jakowsky, she exhibited in the major galleries of Europe from the beginning of the 70s. Today she is present in the main reference works of Naive Art. Geneviève Peyrade's paintings are always very lively: the festivals and the great moments of human life often punctuated by joyful manifestations. The communion at the boarding school is one of them. It is a moment of passage - between childhood and adolescence, or perhaps already towards a form of maturity. Around, parents, passers-by, the curious observe this small theater of purity and propriety. Peyrade paints it without irony, but with a simple sincerity, that of a gaze that remembers.
