Gaston Hauchecorne (1880-1945) is a French sculptor mainly known for his Asian-inspired sculptures. First a teacher and interpreter in Beijing then director of the consulate of Chongqing, it was from the 1920s that he began to exhibit at the Salon des Artistes français. He also participated in the Colonial Exhibition in Marseille in 1922. Working mainly with terracotta, he became known through creations, sometimes humorous, depicting Chinese characters.
