"Stained Glass Window Of The Crucifixion – 15th Century"
Antique fragment, reassembled in the 19th century (47.5 by 52cm with the frame). Superb antique stained glass window depicting the Crucifixion, dating from the 15th or 16th century, a period when the art of stained glass reached a peak in the expression of the sacred and the mastery of colored glass. This fragment, of great spiritual intensity, retains the purity of design and the chromatic richness specific to Gothic and Renaissance workshops. The panel was reassembled in the 19th century, undoubtedly to ensure its preservation and enhancement. The glass has several cracks and breaks (see photos), but none affect the main figurative or decorative parts, which remain intact and beautifully legible. Provenance: important French collection (the name of the collector will be communicated to the buyer). Condition: fragmentary, with accidents, but good general preservation of the old elements. A rare work on the market, of definite historical and heritage interest.
