**Polychrome and Gilt Porcelain Group, Signed Luigi Fabris

Italy, First Half of the 20th Century**

Evoking the splendour of an idealised 18th century, this magnificent porcelain group gracefully embodies aristocratic elegance and the romantic charm of a bygone era. Created by the Italian master Luigi Fabris, a leading figure in early 20th‑century artistic porcelain, the work displays remarkable technical virtuosity and a refined sense of sculptural storytelling.

Two immaculate horses, richly harnessed in green and gold, draw an imperial carriage painted in shades of purple and gilt, adorned with floral garlands and delicate Rococo motifs. Inside, a noble couple shares a moment of tender intimacy: the lady, dressed in a pink lace porcelain gown, gently rests upon the shoulder of her companion, whose turquoise attire adds a touch of refined brilliance. The coachman, in a yellow livery, introduces subtle movement, guiding the ensemble with assurance.

The finely modelled base, embellished with raised porcelain flowers, bears Luigi Fabris’s signature, visible on the side and beneath the base, attesting to the authenticity and prestige of this creation. The piece perfectly illustrates the artist’s distinctive aesthetic: a porcelain art where poetic gesture meets the rigour of exceptional craftsmanship.

A true collector’s piece for connoisseurs of Italian porcelain and European decorative arts of the 20th century.

Luigi Fabris (Bassano del Grappa, 1883 – 1952) was an Italian sculptor and porcelain artist renowned for his figurines, romantic scenes, carriages, and richly detailed compositions. Trained at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, he later created numerous works in Milan. Among his most celebrated achievements is the ceramic façade of the Grand Hotel Ausonia & Hungaria in Venice. His style is instantly recognisable for its vivid colours, refined detailing, and elegant scenes.
