Pair of Louis XV armchairs, 18th century Elegant pair of armchairs with cabriolet backs, in green patinated wood, richly molded and carved with flowers and foliage. The soft curve of the base, the animated armrests and the scalloped belt testify to work from the mid-18th century, around 1750–1770, in the style of Parisian production of the Louis XV period. The pegged mortise and tenon joints, visible on the structure, confirm the authenticity of the woodwork. The armchairs have retained their charming old patina, with slightly cracked green paint revealing the warm tone of the underlying wood. The upholstery, redone in the 19th or early 20th century, is covered with a fabric with a woven floral decoration, typical of the old restoration of period seats. Harmonious and beautiful quality set, rare to find in pairs, ideal for a characterful interior or a collection of 18th century furniture. Period: Louis XV, circa 1750–1770 Wood: carved and re-edged beech Upholstery: later Condition: good general condition, patina and wear from use
