Xavier Desparret-fitzgerald (1861-1941) Banks Of The Garonne Oil On Panel Signed Lower Left

Artist: Xavier Desparret-fitzgerald
Banks of the Garonne, 1903 Oil on panel signed and dated lower left Dimensions: 47 × 38 × 2 cm Charming oil on panel depicting a bank of the Garonne bathed in a soft and slightly misty light, typical of the landscapes of the South-West painted at the beginning of the 20th century. Xavier Desparret-Fitzgerald, a Bordeaux painter active between 1880 and 1930, distinguished himself in river landscapes and rural scenes imbued with serenity. His delicate touch and subtle palette sensitively translate the nuances of the Gironde light. In this work dated 1903, the composition highlights the wooded bank, the silvery reflections of the water and the bluish horizon, in a calm and poetic atmosphere. The artist demonstrates here a keen sense of atmospheric rendering and a faithful observation of nature. Good general condition, with some traces of time on the surface. Needs cleaning. Unframed work. ???? Shipping possible throughout Europe only, with careful packaging and tracking.
