Napoleon Eugène Louis Jean Joseph Bonaparte, better known as the Prince Imperial, was born on 16 March 1856 in Paris. He was the only son of Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie. The Prince Imperial, Eugène Louis Napoléon Bonaparte (1856–1879), the only son of Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie, is depicted wearing the cadet uniform he wore during his training at the Woolwich Military School in England, where he studied artillery. This uniform, typical of British cadets of the time, was distinguished by a dark jacket, epaulettes and gold buttons. William Cobb was one of the pioneers of photography in Ipswich, Suffolk. He later moved to Woolwich, southeast London, where he continued his business. In 1872, after taking over William Heathman's business at 77-78 Wellington Road in Woolwich, Cobb took photographs of members of the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, particularly for the production of visiting cards.
