"Chest Top In Fez Embroidery And Orange Monochrome - Morocco Late 19th Century "
Circa 1900Morocco A chest cover in Fez embroidery in orange and brick tones dating from the Belle Epoque. Very fine embroidery with silk thread on cream cotton. The decoration is dense with interlocking diamonds of the Arab-Andalusian type reminiscent of the moucharabieh. Complete piece embroidered on a single piece of cotton, and finished with knotted fringes with vermillion pompoms, original on the four sides. Its function was intended to cover a chest or a table. Beautiful Moroccan art object! No defects. Note that I have rarely had in my hands Fez embroidery of this quality. Excellent condition of color and preservation.
Dimensions: length 125 cm by 45 cm wide.
