"A Marine Corps Trooper's Coat, Model 1851, In Navy Wool Cloth"
Circa 1851, France. A rare Marine Troop overcoat, Model 1851, dating from the July Monarchy. Navy wool cloth with eleven brass buttons engraved with a marine anchor and the inscription "Equipage de ligne" (Line Crew). The lapels are trimmed with two applied scarlet felt inlays (later addition). Lined in beige canvas and indigo cloth, with a marine anchor stamp (SD), dated the second quarter of 1851, serial number 60558. No defects. Good condition. Original stitching and cut, unaltered. Dimensions: Equivalent to a child's size 12 years today. Length 47 cm, sleeves 57 cm, chest 79 cm, waist 75 cm, shoulders 34 cm.
