Kutani Porcelain Cylindrical Vase, Japan 20th
Cylindrical glazed porcelain vase, slightly flared towards the base and neck, typical of presentation vases with a very dense floral motif, probably chrysanthemums and stylized lotus flowers painted in golden yellow, pink and dark green on a white ground.
The neck and base are painted in a reddish-brown glaze (often called "akae" in Kutani porcelain), decorated with small golden floral motifs. Decoration executed with great precision, suggesting hand-painted work. Signed under the base Kutani.
This is most likely a Kutani piece from the Taishō period (1912–1926) or the early Shōwa period (1926–1940). The presence of a workshop or master painter signature, hand-painted and not an industrial stamp, is typical of pre-war handcrafted pieces.
