Louis de Verdal (born in 1948 in Sousceyrac, Lot) is a French sculptor and designer, self-taught and passionate about wood and scrap metal. After training in forestry and professional experience in Gabon, he devoted himself entirely to sculpture upon his return to France in 1975. His artistic universe, both raw and poetic, mixes wood, metal and recycled materials to give life to unique, often monumental works. Among his most notable achievements are life-size wooden cars: in 1990, he created a Peugeot 203 which earned him first prize at an exhibition on automotive art in Rouen in 1994. In 2000, he created a life-size Audi TT at the brand's request, exhibited in Germany at the Autostadt park in Wolfsburg. These works, of remarkable precision and creativity, demonstrate his talent for transforming wood into everyday objects, with a touch of humor and derision. He is also known for his wooden and metal motorcycles, often exhibited and praised by the specialized press. His sculptures, sometimes animated, evoke humanoids, totems or mechanical machinery, and are exhibited throughout France. His style, between art brut and poetry, continues to surprise and move
