"Madonna In Prayer - Carved Wood "
Finely carved wooden statiette representing a female figure (Madonna, nun, saint or medieval character) in prayer. The general patina evokes the work of the Brienz school, the face and hands being of a lighter patina evoking the chriselephantine technique that we find for example with the reading light of Carrier BELEUZE. It is therefore probably a work called Black Forest, precise, elegant and hieratic. The whole is in very good condition apart from a slight jump on the hood. The base is integral with the subject, octagonal in shape and has an iron punch underneath. Height 39 cm width base 10.5 cm
