Saint Anthony Of Padua – 18th Century
Our carved walnut statue in the round represents Saint Anthony of Padua. We find him here in his traditional representation, carrying the Child placed on the Book. According to tradition, while he was praying in his cell, the Child Jesus appeared to Anthony, illuminating the room with a divine light.
This vision symbolizes his deep love for Christ and his humility.
Christian iconography has preserved this image to illustrate his spiritual closeness to Jesus and his role as a powerful intercessor, particularly for lost causes and misplaced objects.
The eyes of our figures are made of glass, giving a presence to our group.
Dimensions: 30 cm high by 16 cm wide.
Used condition and missing parts.
