Superb cake plate from Maison Haviland, Empress Eugenie CollectionThe design of this collection was created by the designer Léonce Ribière for Empress Eugenie. Haviland interprets it in an eponymous dinner service of infinite delicacy. A crown of violets recalls the sovereign's taste for flowers and for the shades of blue, mauve and purple present in her toilets. The composition of the design embodies the Second Empire style, while the swirling violet stems prefigure Art Nouveau.
