1846 Sevres Porcelain Cups & Saucers Set 6 Chateau Des Tuileries Louis Philippe
This set consists of six cylindrical porcelain cups & saucers, known as "gobelets litron," manufactured at the Sèvres factory in 1846. The exterior of each cup features a central circular cartouche containing the gilded royal monogram of King Louis-Philippe I, an interlaced "LP" surmounted by a crown, flanked by hand-painted putti in varied poses. The cartouches are framed by a rich "Bleu Céleste" (celestial blue) ground with heavy gilded scrollwork. The upper and lower rims are decorated with a continuous gilded ivy-leaf and vine frieze. The underside of each cup contains three distinct factory marks: a blue "SV 46" stamp indicating the Sèvres factory and production year 1846, a green crowned Louis-Philippe monogram, and a red circular "Château des Tuileries" inventory stamp. Each cup measures approximately 6.5 cm in height and features a gilded handle. The interior of the cups is finished in plain white glaze with a gilded inner rim. The set displays characteristic Victorian-era French royal service design.
