Large Alsatian Wine Pitcher From The Early 18th Century, Dated 1704
Large pewter wine pitcher dated 1704. Truncated cone shape with flared base, flat handle. Carries a heart at the top. Decorated with a peripheral rush underlined and highlighted. It is marked with the owner's initials: DGW, dated 1704 underlined by palmettes. Bears 3 hallmarks to identify including a key, a sort of "woodlouse" incorporating the date 1673. Maker's mark to identify. Countermark of a rose on the bottom. Condition of use: small lateral dents and a micro perforation. Height: 29 cm without the thumb rest
