School of Paris. Oil on canvas "Beautiful nude, seated" unsigned. French school. 55 X 46 cm. Our painting dates from the 1930s-1940s. A family tradition evokes an attribution to Erna Davidoff known as Dem (1889-1943), a ceramic artist and sculptor who disappeared in Auschwitz (extermination camp in Poland) in 1943. We have no document concerning this attribution but the quality of the painting, the ease of the artist in his brushstrokes, as well as the period of creation of the work suggest that this attribution is not so unreasonable.
