"Ibeji Twins"
Pair of Ibeji twins adorned with glass beads. They are in the Shaki style, characterized by their tiered headdress. They reveal both the art of Yoruba sculpture in a dynamic form specific to the Oyo region but also the importance of domestic cults commemorating the mythical twins Taiwo and Kehinde. Their cubist features as well as their remarkable state of preservation make them both works anchored in their history and objects that can integrate into a contemporary interior.
