Object description :

"Canabas Mahogany Lectern Table"
Louis XVI period convertible table in solid Cuban mahogany, forming a double rack-and-pinion desk music. It is adorned on either side of the desk with two removable three-part light sconces.
The apron opens with two drawers on the sides, a folding shelf forming a writing desk along one length, and a small square drawer on the opposite side.
It rests on a central six-sided shaft, joining a tripod base finished with casters.
The pull of the folding mechanism is located on the central shaft.
This piece of furniture forms a table for living room when folded.

Joseph GENGENBACH, known as CANABAS (1712 – July 11, 1797), was admitted as a Master Cabinetmaker in Paris on April 1, 1766.
