Very good general condition for this double-headed drum, considering its age, with patina of use. In playing condition, rich and powerful sound. There is a repair on one of the 2 heads. This superb ritual Tibetan drum, dating from the end of the 19th century, is a fine example of Tibetan sacred art. Handcrafted, it consists of a circular barrel in curved and reeded wood, stretched with two animal skins. It is decorated with original polychrome motifs, patinated by time. One of the 2 heads has been repaired. The paintings, with natural pigments, represent traditional Buddhist symbols, including clouds, flames and dragons. A sacred instrument used in religious rituals, shamanic ceremonies or meditation practices, this drum emits a low, enveloping vibration. It can be played with a mallet (not supplied) or not. A rare collector's item, this drum is also a beautiful ethnographic decorative object. It will delight collectors, lovers of Asian sacred art, musicians.
