Louis XV Broken Duchess In Natural Waxed Wood In Two Parts

Very pretty Louis XV style broken duchess chair in waxed natural wood composed of two parts.
The first part is an imposing winged bergère with a deep seat. It rests on four short, arched legs with flower and acanthus leaf work on the two front legs. The two lateral sides of the belt are scalloped and molded, the front face is decorated with a pretty leafy and floral motif. The backrest is flat and inclined, the upper crosspiece of it is curved and richly carved with a beautiful decoration of flowering stems framed by acanthus leaves. Both sides are equipped with two large orillons going from the top of the backrest to join the two armrest supports. The second part is a large footrest or "toe cap" with the same criteria of moldings and sculptures as the bergère. The two structures of our important seat are of great stability, the The upholstery is in very good condition and firm. The upholstery fabric is in fairly good condition, however we note some significant wear on the two armrest sleeves (see photos).
