"Antique Music Box - Switzerland, Late 19th Century"
Charming period music box, in burl wood with a small inlaid motif on the lid. Inside, a brass cylinder mechanism with steel comb, typical of Swiss manufactures from the second half of the 19th century. The original label, stuck under the lid, mentions the tunes played: • Les yeux bleus, Valse, Auber • La Traviata, Duetto, Ponchielli • La Ravissante, Gavotte, Albert • Mandolinata, Taladrini The box therefore plays four popular melodies of the time, testifying to the musical refinement of the Belle Époque. General condition: traces of use, small crack under the box, wear of time, but complete and original mechanism. Dimensions: 13 x 8 x 5 cm
