"Pair Of Large Antique Famille Rose Enameled Porcelain Figurines – China"
A pair of large Chinese polychrome enameled porcelain figurines depicting He Xiangu, one of the famous Eight Immortals of the Taoist pantheon, a symbol of purity and longevity. Made in the Famille Rose style, these nearly 50 cm tall statues captivate with their rich details, vivid colors, and graceful postures. The two figures, strictly identical and designed as mirrors, wear sumptuous imperial robes adorned with floral motifs, stylized clouds, and auspicious symbols in shades of turquoise, pink, yellow, and red. Their nodding heads rest on a discreet axis, giving them a lively and expressive presence. Each holds a long-handled fan, an emblem of feminine wisdom, and wears a headdress finely decorated with flowers in relief. The delicately painted modeling of the face reflects true artistic expertise. These pieces probably date from the early 20th century, a transitional period between the end of the Qing dynasty and the first decades of the Republic. The porcelain is fine, the glaze stable and shiny. Both bases are signed intaglio (mark visible in photo). Dimensions: total height approx. 50 cm, height of the figurine alone approx. 39 cm. Condition: very good overall condition
