"Marquetry System Table, Louis XVI Style – 2nd Half Of The 19th Century"
Beautiful games table forming a desk and dressing table, in rosewood veneer with lemonwood marquetry and stained wood. When closed, this console table has a rectangular molded top, inlaid with a large, finely crafted floral arrangement, positioned on rosewood veneer leaves arranged in butterfly wings. This creation is framed with lemonwood fillets and new floral inlays in the corners. The apron has a drawer fitted with an original functional lock and key. If the table top is slid back and the drawer is opened, a writing area is revealed, lined with felt. This shelf opens with two hinges onto a dressing table with an original mirror, surrounded by a molded rosewood strip. The interior, in lemonwood, is divided into compartments and also has a sliding and removable top. Finally, this table transforms into a games table by unfolding its upper surface. This surface is covered with felt with a rosewood veneer surround and lemonwood fillets. This piece of furniture rests on four spindle-shaped, turned and fluted legs. ********* Period: 2nd half of the 19th century Excellent condition after restoration in our cabinetmaking workshop.
