"Large Cotton Pique Wedding Blanket Double Numbered Dd - Napoleon III Period "
Large flat cotton piqué wedding blanket from the Napoleon III period, with the double-embroidered DD number adorned with an interlacing of roses on stems. This piece is the major element of the traditional bride's trousseau from the end of the 19th century. Two scalloped and re-embroidered borders each bear their monogram inscribed in their center. Very beautiful quality of work and material whose pure white discreetly highlights the flat piqué decoration, both romantic and strict between floral sprigs, geometric friezes and stylized acanthus elements. Antique white linen, washed and ironed.
Condition : The central cartouche shows the very discreet mark of a monogram that was previously unstitched (see photo). This mark is barely visible, and does not alter the quality or aesthetics of this exceptional piece.
