The frame is composed of mirror plates finely engraved with floral motifs, edged with cord-shaped mouldings and joined by worked glass rosettes. At the joints are floral elements in hand-blown and modelled glass, with petals and leaves in relief. The upper crest features an elegant arch decorated with engraved vegetal motifs and a central mascaron, a typical Venetian decorative motif.
The original silvering is partially oxidised, giving the mirror a genuine antique patina.
DocumentationThe mirror is accompanied by two valuable period documents:
a printed drawing faithfully depicting the model,
a printed card from the “Opificio di Colleganza di m.o fra Artisti ed Operaj diversi”, based in Venice (Piazza Goldoni, Calle dei Stagneri).
ConditionOne flower is missing and some leaves are broken; the lower section shows oxidation and small losses. A restoration estimate can be provided upon request.
