Pair Of Sèvres Porcelain Cache-pots With Gilt-bronze Mounts
France, Sèvres Manufactory, late 18th – early 19th century
An elegant pair of cache-pots in bleu céleste Sèvres porcelain, enriched with finely chased gilt-bronze mounts. The surface is encased in a lattice of gilt-bronze with tiny floral motifs at the intersections, further adorned with garlands of roses and festoons descending from the rim. The upper edge is decorated with palmettes and foliage, while the base rests on three paw-shaped supports.
The interior is glazed in white with a turquoise border; the underside bears the crowned shield with “S” mark, typical of the Sèvres manufactory. These luxurious pieces combine the refinement of royal French porcelain with the decorative richness of Parisian gilt-bronze mounts, embodying the Louis XVI and Empire taste. Originally intended for aristocratic interiors, they were designed to hold flowers or small plants as symbols of prestige and refinement.
