Lively scene of women in an undergrowth carrying out daily activities - laundry, cooking, wallpapering. The artist Matkulenska, about whom very little information circulates, was really similarly domiciled from the 1930s - the painting is signed 1932. One would think here of a scene of memory, between naive art and folk scene, an epiphany of popular traditions and a way of life linked to the traveling people, as the cart behind suggests. The graphic style and the apparent naivety of the characters give a certain strength to the work. This one is sold as is: good general condition apart from dirt.
