A. Déchenaud Portrait Of A Woman 19th Century Italian Frame 16th Century (2nd Grand Prix 1891)
Artist: Adolphe Déchenaud
Oil on cardboard circa 1890 presenting a portrait of a woman in profile. Reminiscent of works by Delacroix in the Venetian treatment of the portrait and the choice of colors. From the Académie Julian where he frequented Gustave Boulanger and Benjamin-Constant, Adolphe Déchenaux then entered the École des Beaux Arts in Paris. Second Prix de Rome in 1891, he remained in Rome for several years where he perfected his art, particularly portraiture. Throughout his career, he presented his works at the salon, and entered public collections: his works are now present in the collections of many French museums. The work is framed here in an exceptional 16th century Italian frame in carved wood and gilded on the corners. Dimensions: 24.3 cm x 19.5 cm without frame 36 cm x 31 cm with frame.
