Canton Carved Tortoiseshell Box, Qing Period 19th Century
This beautiful and large round box is made of tortoiseshell, carved in high relief on the top and sides with a lively decoration of figures in a garden and house environment. The bottom is carved with a similar scene.
PERFECT CONDITION! Rare in this condition, the lid closes well, some light nibbling inside.
Cantonese work, Qing period circa 1880.
