"Selette - Cast Iron - Heron Model - France - 19th Century "
Cast iron selette resting on an elegant tripod base finished with clawed feet. The central shaft is decorated with three stylized herons with slender lines, arranged in relief, supporting a circular top decorated with decorative motifs. A low crosspiece decorated with a turned button reinforces the balance of the whole. This type of selette, typical of 19th century production, illustrates the taste of the period for naturalistic decorations and animal inspirations, characteristic of the transition between the Napoleon III style and Art Nouveau. Designed to hold a planter, a vase or a sculpture, it still constitutes a refined and decorative support today. France 19th century
