Very widespread in southern India (especially in Kerala and Tamil Nadu), the Uruli always has this shape of a shallow basin with two handles under the neck, more or less scalloped.
It can be large in size (in this case it is rather called Varpu)
It is typical of the urulis produced in the state of Kerala in the South of India
They were used for the preparation of dishes during large events in families or in the temple and also for the preparations of Ayurvedic medicine.
The urulis now have a more decorative use. Put on display in the houses, or used in basins in which float flowers
