Louis XIV Period Chest Of Drawers From Dauphiné In Olive Wood Marquetry
Louis XIV chest of drawers, late 17th century, in marquetry opening with three drawers on the front.
In olive wood, the fillets in rosewood, central medallions in burl, half medallions of the corners and sides in stained walnut.
The well-overflowing top has a pretty hollow molding.
The drawer interiors are in walnut.
Typical work of Dauphiné area ( Grenoble , France ) of high quality.
The top is remarkable for the richness and balance of its decoration, with the use of the particular grain of the olive tree to create exceptional patterns whose nuances vary subtly according to the light.
All the bronzes are original, very finely chiseled and having partly retained their original gilding.
