Exceptional terracotta statuette depicting a water carrier, traces of polychromy still clearly visible.
Statuette found during the demolition of a house in Bordeaux, walled between two walls.
Dating from the 5th to the 3rd century BC.
It should be noted that it has been damaged and repaired in the past at the ankles and neck.
The figure is in motion, in a beautiful posture, slightly swaying, carrying a large water skin suspended from his left shoulder and balancing it with his other hand.
His bowed head indicates the effort he is making to carry the load, he is wearing a knotted cloth on his head and a draped garment around his waist.
