"Painted And Gilded Coat Of Arms From The End Of The 17th Century"
Rare carved and painted armorial panel, Baroque period, late 17th century. The coat of arms is composed of two parts: On the left: red background strewn with stars and decorated with a chariot. On the right: crowned royal figure, dressed in red, placed on red and silver stakes. Above is the motto "Moderata Durant" ("Moderate things last"). This motto is found notably in the heraldry of the Soyécourt family (Picardy, French nobility) and in the work of Hugues des Hazards, Bishop Count of Toul in the 16th century. Baroque frame in carved and gilded wood, wear and tear, authentic patina.
