The engraving represents warehouses where many people are busy. We even note two men hitting a third on the soles of their feet!
The center of the composition is occupied by a ship filled with merchandise. In the distance, we see a city. The Islamic crescent is represented three times. It is notably carried by a character standing on the roof of the warehouse.
It is therefore an original view, full of details.
The engraving is in very good condition, without foxing or stains. It is framed under an elegant chocolate-colored marie-louise, in a gold and green baguette frame.
This engraving was made by Jacques-Gabriel Huquier (1730 – 1805), who identifies himself on the work as "Huquier fils Graveur". He is in fact the son of Gabriel Huquier, who started a veritable dynasty of engravers. Jacques-Gabriel was a student of François Boucher.
