"Daisy Makeig-jones Wedgwood Orange Lustre Bowl, C.1915"
An outstanding Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre bowl in the
rare Z4830 pattern, designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones circa 1915. The Orange
Lustre exterior, richly stained and mottled in blue and brown, is ornamented
with finely gilded butterflies. The interior, in Mother-of-Pearl Lustre with
green stainings, features a central butterfly motif hand-painted in iridescent
hues and gold. Measuring 5.2 cm in height and 9.5 cm in diameter, this piece
holds significant appeal for collectors — early Lustre bowls in such excellent
condition are increasingly difficult to find, and Z4830 is a documented pattern
from Wedgwood’s Decoration Book. It represents not only a fine decorative
object but also an investment-grade collectible with enduring market demand.
The depth of lustre is always more vivid in person than in any photograph;
reflections visible in images are not defects.
Condition: Excellent antique condition.
