"Philipp Peter Roos, Known As Rosa Da Tivoli (sankt Goar, 30 August 1657 – Rome, 17 January 1706"
Painter (Frankfurt am Main 1655 or 1657 - Rome 1706), son and pupil of Johann Heinrich. In 1677 he left for Rome, where he studied with G. Brandi, whose daughter he married in 1681; he then settled in Tivoli. He was particularly active as a painter of animals, depicted in the foreground against a landscape background, with rich colors and intense lighting effects. His works are exhibited in numerous museums (Florence, Uffizi; Madrid, Prado; Kassel, Hessisches Landesmuseum; Dresden, Gemäldegalerie).
