"Sculpture – Fragment Of Bas-relief, Sculpted Head – Limestone – Haute époque – Gothic"
Dating: Late 15th – early 16th century Origin: France – Architectural sculpture or statuary decoration Limestone head fragment, remnant of a late Gothic sculpture. Although heavily worn, it retains legible volumes: brow ridge, orbital hollow, nasal bridge and beginning of the ear. Erosion softens the features, giving it an almost spectral character, typical of facade sculptures exhibited for centuries. The clear break at the back and base indicates that it was probably an element integrated into an architectural relief, perhaps a console, a capital or a portal decoration. The modeling, despite its incomplete state, reveals a desire for realism specific to late Gothic sculpture. Mounted on a modern metal base (not supplied), the fragment is distinguished by its homogeneous stony patina and its natural mineral nuances, signs of a long time spent outdoors. Condition: Very good condition for a fragment of this period, characteristic exhibition wear. Dimensions: Height 14 cm Delivery: Exclusively via DHL, secure packaging, tracking and insurance.
