"Ceramic - Majolica Plate - Savona - Cherub Decoration - Angel, Italy - Blue And White"
Dating: Second half of the 18th century Origin: Italy – Savona Majolica plate glazed in blue monochrome, decorated in the center with a winged cherub floating in the clouds, surrounded by stylized vegetation and lightly sketched landscapes. The border, enlivened by fluid plant motifs, reinforces the impression of movement and grace. The Savona workshops, active since the 17th century, were renowned throughout Europe for the quality of their enamels and the liveliness of their decorations. In the second half of the 18th century, they favored a free, rapid, almost instinctive brushwork, which gave the scenes a singular charm, between popular freshness and late Baroque elegance. Each plate is then a unique piece, carrying a narrative and decorative breath. Condition: crack partially across and chips on the lip, but good tone. Unrestored piece. Dimensions: Diameter 26 cm Delivery: ALL DELIVERIES ARE MADE BY DHL EXPRESS ONLY.
