Wedgwood Lustre — Pair Of Owl Bowls By Daisy Makeig-jones, Z4564, Circa 1915
Artist: Wedgwood, Makeig-jones
An elegant pair of Wedgwood blue lustre bowls, designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones circa 1915, pattern Z4564. Iridescent powder blue ground with gilt owls perched on a branch, wide all-gilt vegetal border. A rarely encountered feature: one of the bowls is marked as a special order for James Powell & Sons (Whitefriars Glass Works)—a well-known London retailer that offered Wedgwood pieces alongside its own glass and stained glass, stamping its mark after production. Double-marked pieces are rare and highly sought-after. Extremely rare, unique, and highly sought-after pieces, they represent an exceptional opportunity to enrich a Wedgwood or early 20th-century British decorative arts collection. Dimensions (each): D 15.2 cm; H 4 cm Condition: Excellent early condition; luminous lustre and gilding, no chips, cracks, or restorations. Any reflections visible in the photos are related to the luster glaze and are not defects. Please examine the attached photographs carefully, as they are an integral part of this description.
