Art Nouveau Asparagus Serving Dish (st Clément) - Signed -l : 61 Cm
Large oval serving dish in glazed earthenware.
This dish is the result of a prestigious collaboration between the famous master glassmaker and artist Émile GALLÉ (Ecole de Nancy) and the ST CLÉMENT earthenware factory.
Mark & Authenticity: The underside of the dish features two distinct marks. A clear trademark: "St Clément terre de lorraine". And, most importantly, the authentic handwritten signature: "Gallé Nancy"
A small area below the Gallé signature is erased, which is typical for pieces of this period (pencil or workshop markings).
Design & Decoration: The piece is of a sleek, sophisticated style. The decoration, hand-painted in vibrant cobalt blue on a creamy white ground, depicts delicate asparagus stalks and climbing floral motifs. The edge is polylobed (scalloped), accented by a cobalt blue border line.
