The chiseling is deep and the period gilding - cleaned by a professional - is of very good quality, alternating between matte and shiny.
The clock rests on 7 "spinning top" feet, themselves chiseled.
The enamelled dial bearing the signature F. Barbedienne in Paris has a circle of blue Roman numerals for the hours, and a circle of black Arabic numerals for the minutes. This dial is protected by a bevelled glass surrounded by a frieze of golden pearls.
It is framed on both sides by the head of a "Turkish character" wearing a turban topped with an aigrette.
A large laurel garland encircles the body of the clock and is held in its center by a ring. The pyramidal summit is topped with an Antique vase surrounded by a fringed fabric on which two medallions stand out.
On each medallion there is a pigeon in flight, one of the two holding a sealed letter.
As can be seen , this clock takes up the ornamental codes of the Louis XVI style in a rich combination that is enhanced by the magnificent gilding.
Period movement, the mechanism has been entirely revisited by a professional and is in working order.
Strikes the hours and 1/2 hours.
19th Century.
