The pierced band, with its striking decorative effect, recalls the patterns of the so-called "famille rose" tradition. The underside bears an apocryphal red-painted seal mark stating “Made during the reign of Qianlong” (1735–1796), applied for decorative purposes. This piece is most likely a Chinese production from the early decades of the 20th century, intended for the Western market.
