Object description :

"Jean-baptiste Greuze (1725–1805) (workshop Or Student Of) Portrait Of A Young Woman, Late 18th Century"
Pastel depicting a young woman with a slightly bare chest, her gaze turned toward the sky in a contemplative pose. The posture and controlled sensuality evoke both innocence and moral emotion—themes dear to Jean-Baptiste Greuze, the great master of sentiment in the 18th century.

The work faithfully reproduces the composition of an oil on canvas attributed to Jean-Baptiste Greuze, housed at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Rennes (inv. 880.1.219).

The quality of the model, the treatment of the face, and the rendering of the drapery suggest a work originating from Greuze’s workshop or close circle. This type of composition was often produced in multiple versions, notably in pastel, by his students or collaborators.

The piece is in good condition (small tear in the upper left corner).
It is sold with its gilded frame and is protected under glass.
