Very beautiful animated scene in ink, pen and wash from the late 18th century by Dirk LANGENDIJK (1748-1805), signed and dated lower left. Superb work of perspectives and light, all in nuances and gradations, sense of detail and finesse of observation, characteristics of this great Dutch painter and draftsman. This artist mainly produced representations of land and naval battles between 1780 and 1800 as well as the wars of the French Revolution (as he testifies here) or the Napoleonic wars from 1792. This drawing is magnificently framed with its old wash mat, covered by another more recent one and equipped with its original old frame with a beautiful patina.
