This richly detailed neo-Gothic chalice is of great beauty. Its base is decorated with a magnificent motif of grapes and leaves.
On top is the silver and gilt paten, bearing two hallmarks: the Minerva hallmark for 1st grade 950/1000 silver and the second hallmark of an unknown French silversmith.
The cup is composed of two parts. The gilt cup is surrounded by a second layer of silver, which gives it more detail and depth.
The silver-gilt cup bears the following hallmarks: the Minerva hallmark for 950/1000 silver in the first degree and the H. Negré hallmark, which designates the French master silversmith. The second layer is marked twice with the H. Negré hallmark. The silver layer is decorated with a magnificent leaf motif. The rest of the chalice is composed of two parts: the central silver knob and the lower silver part are one. Both are connected to an inner base plate. The latter, unmarked, is still silver. The silver base bears the H. Negré hallmark and the Minerve hallmark.
Height: 21.7 cm (8.54"), including paten: 22 cm (8.66")
Width of the cup: 9.4 cm (3.7"), including paten: 13 cm (5.11").
Width of the base: 11.7 cm (4.6").
Weight of the object: 349/350 g (chalice: 399 g / including paten: 50 g) (including silver tray). Precious model in the neo-Gothic style, used but in excellent condition. This charming model, with its ornaments, looks like a jewel. The lower edge has a small bump, not very visible but visible.
