A circular table basket (or sweet basket) made of chrysoprase-green opalised uranium glass, richly decorated with gold-enamelled garlands of flowers and leafy branches in the Rocaille style. It is set within a gilded brass frame comprising a tall, twisted, movable handle adorned with small flowers, a frieze of acanthus leaves and openwork volutes edging the glass, decorated with hanging ouraline bead pendants. The structure rests on a tripod base of twisting brass wires.
France. Charles X period (19th century), circa 1840–1850.
